Thom Meek is an internationally recognized architect with a reputation for creative design, practical project management, and innovative master planning. For over 20 years he has put his unique brand on performing arts centers, luxury hotels, banks, hospitals, luxury homes, and spas around the world.
Thom’s signature end-to-end approach with clients – individual or corporate – is to actively listen, create a personalized design and master plan, and offer technical insight throughout execution of the work. His company, DeNovo Concepts, [denovo means “from the beginning,” “afresh,” and “anew”] reflects Thom’s commitment to work with the client from the inception to occupancy, creating a destination that is novel and captivating. He combines the values of entrepreneurship and strategy in his architectural master plan – in that they solve real problems in a unique way and last the test of time. His solutions are always financially sound and extend the core brand image of the company.
One of Thom’s passions is to design mountain, beach, and urban premium residential homes around the world. He wants to create more than just comfortable places to live. Thom wants his clients see their homes as destinations. Luxury and comfort should not be just for vacations, but experienced every day. He starts by uncovering the personality and interests of the owner. Then, he absorbs the environment and setting for the proposed home. Finally, he internalizes every detail from the books on the shelf to the pillows on the bed. Everything has its place. His goal is to create a one-of-a-kind destination that welcomes and uplifts families and guests. Thom has designed beautiful homes around the world from the hills of Provence to the beaches on the Riviera, from the vineyards of Napa Valley to the mountains of Jackson Hole, and from beach homes in Antigua to penthouses in New York City.
After completing his degree in architecture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Thom began his career at Earl Swensson Associates, Inc., in Nashville. He studied architecture in the European Studies Program in Yugoslavia and worked as a designer for Dream Catcher Destination Clubs and Quintess Destination Homes. His professional and civic affiliations include AIA National, AIA Tennessee and AIA Middle Tennessee; Nashville Civic Design Forum; and serving on the Fundraising Committee of Tennessee Performing Arts Center. Thom launched DeNovo Concepts in 2004.
